Skin Rejuvenation treatments
One of the popular “skin/face injections” in Korea is Rejuran. After receiving the treatment myself, I definitely understand why it’s a popular treatment. The fact that it continues to be a popular treatment despite the pain likely speaks to how well it works for many.
Rejuran is composed with Polynucleotides extracted from salmon and basically rejuvenates the skin. It heals and protects the skin, making it a powerful rejuvenation treatment. Although some might see change after one treatment, generally people need 3 sessions (each, a month apart) to see the most benefit. Afterwards, you can space it out to every 6 months or when one notices dullness. Rejuran can lead to smoother skin texture, improved hydration, increased skin elasticity, and shrink pores. The effect is generally not instance (like many skin care products), but in a few weeks, one can notice refreshed appearance of skin (and how it feels) as well as makeup getting applied smoother (sort of like when you apply a primer beforehand). Of course, each individual will have different experience, but the goal of treatment is to improve the general skin quality and protect your skin from the aging process.
So about the pain… It hurts, a lot. Rejuran should be injected right underneath the skin (with a small needle) in order for the material to be absorbed in that specific outer skin layer and does it’s healing work. It can’t be “applied” on the skin and although some might use mesotherapy gun to inject (as it can cause less discomfort), this generally leads to more loss of the material. Despite applying numbing cream, it does hurt. Imagine getting poked by a tiny needle many many times. Doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it, but be aware of this as it’s the biggest downside of this treatment.
Ready for some photos?
Before and after photos myself after 2 sessions of Rejuran (no filters). My skin needed some help after a dry winter season and after wearing a mask all day at work for months.
Right after injections…
Does look a bit crazy…
