Hyper-diluted Radiesse for the skin

Have you heard of “crepey” skin? Crepey skin could be thought of as thin, crinkled skin that looks like crepe paper. The cause is multifactorial including lack of hydration, too much sun exposure, and loss of collagen and elastin (which is a natural part of aging). Good skincare (including moisturizers and sunscreen) is important to prevent and treat crepey skin. However, if you want a stronger treatment to address it, you should consider hyper-diluted Radiesse.

Radiesse is a calcium based filler. It is a unique filler as it not only adds volume, but also stimulates collagen production, leading to improved skin texture and elasticity. Recently, a new way of using Radiesse, utilizing the biostimulatory effect on the skin has been gaining attraction. In this case, Radiesse is used in a diluted form, so it adds minimal volume but covers a wider skin area. The dilution allows the active ingredients to be spread evenly under the skin needs stimulation. Combining Radiesse with PRF (Platelet Rich Fibrin) can add a synergistic effect, with even stronger skin rejuvenating effect.

Following are before and after photos posted on a paper published in 2019 in Plastic Surgery and Reconstructive Surgery Global Open forum; “Consensus Recommendations for the Use of Hyperdiluted Calcium Hydroxyapatite (Radiesse) as a Face and Body Biostimulatory Agent”.

Hyperdiluted Radiesse can be used in the face and various parts of the body including neck, arms, hands, knees, and even buttocks. Studies have demonstrated an improvement in skin thickness and texture as soon as 5 weeks after treatment and effect lasting up to 18 months. Depending on the skin quality and thickness, it’s common to require multiple treatments (generally 1 month apart) and one maintenance session is recommended within 12-18 months of initial treatment cycle.

The procedure is not too painful, more of a mild discomfort, as it involves a cannula for an even spread of the product and only requires a handful of needle pokes. There is very little downtime afterwards with a possible slight swelling for a few days that will go down, as the Radiesse is used as a biostimulator in this case, it won’t “add volume” like a general filler.
