Dermal Fillers
Fillers are natural or synthetic substances injected below the surface of the skin to restore or add volume. It helps to fill fine lines, wrinkles or scars and can also add extra volume to desired areas.
At Mi by Lee, we carry Juvederm, Belotero, and Radiesse. There are various types of fillers on the market and even Juvederm comes in different types including Juvederm Ultra, Ultra Plus, and Volbella. Each product has different uses based on the specific composition of the ingredients. Some are better suited for subtle lines versus others are used for increased volume.
Hyaluronic acid is the main ingredient of Juvederm and Belotero fillers. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring polysaccharide (sugar) and is chemically identical across all species. This means that no allergy testing is needed for currently available FDA products as no one should be allergic to this material. It naturally degrades/dissolves partially in the body.
Calcium hydroxylapatite is the main ingredient of Radiesse, which is not only a great filler, but it has shown to stimulate the body to product more collagen, leading to production of collagen. This results in tightening and thickening of the area itβs injected in, creating smoother and firmer skin.
